WorldEye in Mistral Le Chat: The One You Can Connect Today, Start to Finish
▸ Why Le Chat gets the longest post in this series
Every engine in this series gets the truth about its integration options, and for most of them the truth is “visibility only”. Le Chat is the exception. Mistral's assistant supports custom MCP connectors authenticated with an API token in a custom header — and WorldEye's MCP server authenticates in exactly that way, with a free, self-serve key sent as an Authorization header. Le Chat is therefore the one major consumer assistant where a user can connect WorldEye's live tools today, end to end, with no developer account, no directory listing and nothing to buy.
▸ The setup, step by step
First, the key. Sign in at worldeye.app, open Account Settings → API keys, and create a key. It starts with wek_, is shown once, and the free tier covers 100 requests a day — plenty for chat use; WorldEye plans raise the limit (Lite 1,000, Pro 5,000, Ultra 25,000 a day).
Then, in Le Chat: open Intelligence → Connectors → Add Connector and choose “Custom MCP Connector”. Name it “WorldEye” and set the connector server to https://worldeye.app/api/v1/mcp. For authentication, choose API Token: header name Authorization, header value “Bearer” followed by your key. Create the connector, click Enable Tools, and you are set — the same steps are kept current on our WorldEye in Le Chat page.
▸ What Le Chat can then do
With the connector enabled, Le Chat calls the same five read-only tools documented for developers. It can search the camera catalogue by place, country or kind; fetch one camera's details with its current snapshot and a watch link; find cameras near a named place or coordinates, nearest first; list the last 24 hours of USGS earthquakes (magnitude 2.5+); and check the key's plan tier and remaining daily quota. The catalogue is the site's 74,229-camera globe filtered to the cameras cleared for redistribution, each credited to its operating agency.
The limits are stated as plainly here as everywhere else: results carry metadata, a snapshot and a watch link — never a raw stream URL, because the watching happens on WorldEye; no tool changes anything; and the tools know nothing about WorldEye's users. Le Chat also isn't the only client that can do this — any MCP client that takes a URL and headers can, and the official MCP Registry has listed WorldEye since November 4, 2026 — but it is the most direct consumer route we can point to today.
▸ Frequently asked questions
Does connecting WorldEye to Le Chat cost anything?+
No. The WorldEye API key is free (100 requests a day), and adding a custom connector is a feature of your own Le Chat account. Paid WorldEye plans only raise the daily request limit.
What exactly do I enter in Le Chat's connector form?+
Server: https://worldeye.app/api/v1/mcp. Authentication: API Token, with header name “Authorization” and header value “Bearer wek_YOUR_KEY” using the key from Account Settings → API keys. Then enable the connector's tools.
Can Le Chat play a live camera stream for me?+
No — and nothing connected to our API can. Tools return a camera's metadata, current snapshot and a watch link; the live stream itself opens on worldeye.app, where browsing is free and unlimited opens need an upgrade.
