Wait times are CBP's published estimates for reaching the inspection booth, shown exactly as the feed reports them — including "Update Pending", which means the port has not published a fresh reading for that lane. A lane with no current reading is not an empty lane.
San Ysidro, where I-5 and I-805 meet the line, is among the busiest land border crossings in the world — the main port (CBP 250401) runs passenger vehicles and pedestrians around the clock.
PedWest (250407) is the pedestrian-focused port a few blocks west, by the Virginia Avenue transit centre.
Cross Border Xpress (250409) is the enclosed bridge from a dedicated Otay Mesa terminal straight into Tijuana International Airport — usable only with an airline ticket.
The camera wall below is a stated geographic rule, the same discipline as everywhere in this directory: every catalogue camera within 10 km of the crossing point (32.5420, -117.0300), nearest first — the bridge approaches, the port district and the San Diego (San Ysidro) streets around it. What it cannot show you is the inspection plaza itself: CBP's booth cameras are not public feeds, and no camera here is dressed up as one.

Every card is the camera's real live feed: snapshot cards refresh about every 15 seconds, stream cards play live in the grid (a few at a time, the same budget the map tiles use) and in full when you open a camera. Feeds are provided by their operators and public sources; a camera whose stream has gone off air shows as unavailable rather than playing a recording.
How to cross with less waiting
- 1Read the table by lane, not by headline: standard, SENTRI/NEXUS and Ready lanes at the same port can differ by an hour.
- 2Check the CBP update note on each row — a lane marked "Update Pending" has no current reading, however empty it looks.
- 3Look at the approach cameras before you leave: the visible queue tail on the US-side highway is the part of the wait no table measures.
- 4If this crossing is stacked and another nearby port is not, the wait table on that crossing's page is one tap back on the hub.
- 5Carry the documents the lane requires — a Ready or SENTRI lane entered without the right card ends at the booth, slowly.
